Isatidis Radix contains indole compounds (indigo, indirubin), epigoitrin, and polysaccharides, with antiviral, antibacterial, anti-endotoxin, and immunomodulatory activity; indirubin has been studied as a treatment for chronic myelogenous leukemia.
