Lifted, it turns like a twisting cord; pressed, it cuts like a rope—from this the pulse takes the name of 'tight.'
The pulse comes taut and forceful, flicking the finger left and right like a pulled cord or twisting rope. The tension is palpable and the pulse-force is strong on both arrival and departure.
Indicates cold, pain, and food stagnation. When cold pathogen binds the exterior or lodges in the organs, cold contracts and the vessel wall tightens—hence the tight quality.
