What are granules? Concentrated Chinese herbal granules are made by decocting raw drugs, concentrating the decoction, and spray-drying the result. A 5:1 granule, in theory, contains the active constituents of 5 grams of raw drug per 1 gram of granule.

How to use this tool: enter the total daily dose of raw drug for the entire formula, choose the concentration ratio of the granule product you are dispensing, and the tool will convert to the corresponding granule weight and packets per day.

Note: this is a theoretical conversion. Actual granule potency depends on processing, drying, and storage, and is not exactly equivalent to a fresh raw decoction. Specific prescriptions and doses must be determined by a qualified TCM practitioner working from a real diagnosis.
