The foundational formula for drying dampness and transforming phlegm, composed of ban xia, chen pi, fu ling, and zhi gan cao. Named for ban xia and chen pi being superior when aged (chen), it established the template from which the majority of subsequent phlegm-transforming formulas were derived.
