The dried ripe seed kernel of Platycladus orientalis (Cupressaceae). Enters the Heart, Kidney, and Large Intestine channels. Sweet, neutral, and moist, it nourishes Heart blood to calm the spirit and moistens intestinal dryness to unblock the bowels. It is particularly suited for Heart-blood vacuity with vacuity-vexation insomnia, palpitations, and forgetfulness. Commonly paired with suan zao ren in Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan and Bai Zi Yang Xin Wan.

减其滑润之性,用于便溏而需安神者
煎服3–10g;大便溏者用柏子仁霜(去油)以防滑泻。
