Crystal of chalcanthite, copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO₄·5H₂O). Enters the Liver and Gallbladder channels. Sour, cold, and extremely toxic. Induces vomiting of wind-phlegm; topically resolves toxicity and absorbs dampness. A highly toxic copper compound; modern clinical use is virtually obsolete.

胆矾，味酸涩，寒。主明目，目痛，金疮，诸痫痉。

胆矾含硫酸铜，低剂量刺激胃黏膜引起呕吐，外用有抑菌收敛作用。铜离子毒性极大，现代已基本弃用内服。
Dan fan contains copper sulfate; at low doses stimulates gastric mucosa to induce vomiting. Topically has antibacterial and astringent effects. Copper ion toxicity is extreme — internal use is essentially abandoned in modern practice.
《中国药典》收载但标注剧毒，严格限制使用。
Listed in Chinese Pharmacopoeia but labeled as highly toxic with strict use restrictions.
