The light, shriveled, sun-dried caryopsis of Triticum aestivum (Poaceae) that floats when placed in water. Enters the Heart channel. Sweet and cool, Fu Xiao Mai secures the exterior and stops sweating, and also nourishes the Heart to abate steaming fever in yin-vacuity patterns. It is the first-line medicinal for spontaneous sweating and night sweats due to qi or yin deficiency, often paired with Huang Qi, Mu Li, or Wu Wei Zi.
