粳米为大米主食,主含淀粉、蛋白质与B族维生素,能供给能量、健脾养胃、生津存液。大寒药中同煎粳米可在液面形成米汤胶质层,延缓石膏等矿物类药溶出,保护胃黏膜。
Geng Mi is staple rice containing starch, proteins and B-vitamins; it supplies energy, fortifies the Spleen and Stomach, and engenders fluids. When decocted with cold mineral drugs, the rice decoction forms a protective mucilaginous layer that slows mineral extraction and shields the gastric mucosa.
Bensky 指出白虎汤方中粳米与甘草同为顾护胃气之佐使,防石膏、知母大寒伤中。
Bensky notes that in Bai Hu Tang, Geng Mi and Gan Cao together protect Stomach qi, preventing the cold nature of Shi Gao and Zhi Mu from injuring the middle.
Chen & Chen 指出粳米与石膏同煎时,米中淀粉可与石膏表面形成胶体层,稍缓其寒性。
Chen & Chen note that when decocted with Shi Gao, rice starch forms a colloidal coating moderating the mineral's cold nature.
