The representative formula for yang-brightness qi-level great heat from the Shang Han Lun, composed of shi gao, zhi mu, zhi gan cao, and geng mi. When the four cardinal signs appear—great heat, great thirst, great sweating, and surging pulse—this formula is indicated.
