The dried ripe fruit of Terminalia chebula (Combretaceae). Enters the Lung and Large Intestine channels. Bitter, sour, astringent, and neutral, it astringes the intestines, stops diarrhea, constrains the Lung, and benefits the throat. An important herb in both Chinese and Tibetan medicine.
