The dried rhizome of Picrorhiza scrophulariiflora (Scrophulariaceae). Cold and bitter, entering the Liver, Stomach, and Large Intestine channels. Abates deficiency heat and eliminates gan-accumulation fever; also clears damp-heat. Despite sharing 'Huang Lian' in its name, it is botanically unrelated to Coptis and focuses on clearing deficiency heat rather than draining excess fire.
Reference range for non-pregnant adults. Not a personalized prescription. Pregnancy, lactation, and pediatric use require specialist supervision.
