The dried stem bark and root bark of Melia azedarach or M. toosendan (Meliaceae). Enters the Liver, Spleen, and Stomach channels. Bitter, cold, and toxic, it paralyzes and expels roundworms and pinworms. Historically a key anthelmintic, now rarely used internally due to significant toxicity.

煎服5–10g。外用适量,煎水洗。鲜皮毒性较大,宜用干皮。

苦楝皮主含川楝素,对蛔虫有麻痹作用,使虫体不能附着肠壁而排出,但治疗窗窄,毒性明显。
Kulianpi contains toosendanin, which paralyzes roundworms preventing intestinal attachment, but has a narrow therapeutic window with significant toxicity.
《中国药典》收载苦楝皮,标注有毒。
Chinese Pharmacopoeia lists Kulianpi and marks it as toxic.
