The dried aerial part of Equisetum hyemale (Equisetaceae). Neutral, sweet and bitter, entering the Lung and Liver channels. Disperses wind-heat and removes superficial visual obstruction from the eyes. A key herb for red eyes with pterygium; also stops bleeding for hemorrhoidal and intestinal bleeding.
