The dried aerial part of Eupatorium fortunei (Asteraceae). Enters the Spleen, Stomach, and Lung channels. Pungent and neutral, it is the key aromatic dampness-transforming herb, often paired with huo xiang in synergy. While pei lan is neutral and excels at transforming dampness and arousing the Spleen, huo xiang is slightly warm and excels at harmonizing the middle and stopping vomiting. The Nei Jing recommends pei lan for Spleen impediment (pi dan) with sweet taste in the mouth.
化湿解暑力强,夏令暑湿证尤宜
芳香化湿,醒脾开胃
鲜品加倍(15–30g),暑湿、湿温证以鲜佩兰为佳。不宜久煎。
