The dried whole herb of Taraxacum mongolicum and related species (Asteraceae). Enters the Liver and Stomach channels. Bitter, sweet, and cold, it is the essential herb for treating breast abscess (ru yong), suitable for both internal administration and external application. Though bitter and cold, it does not significantly damage the Stomach, and its additional ability to drain dampness and relieve strangury makes it a relatively mild member of the heat-clearing toxin-resolving category.
