Typha pollen contains flavonoid glycosides (typhaneoside) and lipidic sterols; preclinical studies report hemostatic effects when charred and antiplatelet/lipid-lowering effects when raw, reflecting its dual traditional role of stopping bleeding and resolving blood stasis.
Bensky notes raw Typha invigorates blood while charred Typha stops bleeding; contraindicated in pregnancy and typically wrapped for decoction.
