The dried body of Buthus martensii (scorpion). Enters the Liver channel. Pungent, neutral, and toxic, it specifically enters the Liver to extinguish wind, stop convulsions, and search out wind from the collaterals. A primary herb for spasms whether from external or internal wind, acute or chronic. Commonly paired with wu gong (centipede) in Zhi Jing San.

《中药学》(Bensky)记载全蝎有毒,常用量仅 1–3 g(入煎剂),散剂更小;过量可致呼吸麻痹、溶血。
Bensky lists whole scorpion as toxic, usual decoction dose only 1–3 g (powder smaller); overdose can cause respiratory paralysis and hemolysis.
