Charred processed form of Shan Zha (hawthorn fruit). Retains the Spleen, Stomach, and Liver channel entry of the parent but shifts its action toward checking diarrhea and dysentery and stanching bleeding, while preserving some food-dispersing function. Used for diarrhea and bloody stool accompanied by food stagnation.
