The shell of Haliotis diversicolor, H. discus hannai, or related species (Haliotidae). Enters the Liver channel. Salty, cold, and heavy, it pacifies the Liver, subdues yang, and brightens the eyes. A key herb for Liver-yang hyperactivity dizziness and eye diseases. Its name shi jue ming ('stone that brings sight') reflects its eye-brightening function.
