The resin exuded by Liquidambar orientalis (Hamamelidaceae). Enters the Heart and Spleen channels. Pungent, warm, and intensely aromatic, it is the representative warm-opening herb for reviving consciousness, repelling filth, and alleviating pain. Specifically treats cold-blockage coma and sudden qi-stagnation collapse. Su He Xiang Wan uses it as the principal herb for cold-blockage wind-stroke. Paired with musk as the two key orifice-opening substances.
