The dried ripe seed of Lepidium apetalum or Descurainia sophia (Brassicaceae). Enters the Lung and Bladder channels. Bitter, pungent, and strongly cold, it drains the Lung, calms wheezing, disinhibits water, and reduces swelling. A key herb for Lung repletion with phlegm congestion and fluid retention. Ting Li Da Zao Xie Fei Tang from the Jin Gui Yao Lue pairs it with da zao to drain Lung fluid retention.
