The dried female body of Eupolyphaga sinensis or Steleophaga plancyi (Corydiidae). Enters the Liver channel. Salty and cold, it powerfully breaks blood stasis while reuniting sinews and knitting bone, featured as the principal ingredient in Zhang Zhongjing's Dahuang Zhechong Wan.

《中国药典》收载土鳖虫。
Chinese Pharmacopoeia lists Tubiechong.
土鳖虫为仲景大黄蟅虫丸主药，善治干血劳、症瘕积聚等顽固血瘀证。
Bensky notes Tubiechong is the chief herb in Zhang Zhongjing's Dahuang Zhechong Wan for stubborn blood stasis including dry blood taxation.
