The dried ripe seed of Cuscuta chinensis or C. australis (Convolvulaceae). Enters the Liver, Kidney, and Spleen channels. Pungent, sweet, and neutral, its mild nature balances yin and yang supplementation, making it the key herb for tonifying the Kidney, augmenting essence, nourishing the Liver, brightening the eyes, and calming the fetus. Featured with gou qi zi and fu pen zi in Wu Zi Yan Zong Wan.
