The dried body of Scolopendra subspinipes (centipede). Enters the Liver channel. Pungent, warm, and toxic, it is strongly mobilizing and excels at searching out wind and unblocking the collaterals. Often paired with quan xie (scorpion) in Zhi Jing San for convulsions, stubborn headaches, and wind-damp impediment. Also attacks toxin to treat scrofula and snakebite.

煎服3–5g(约1–3条);研末冲服,每次0.6–1g。外用适量,研末调敷。本品有毒,应严格控制剂量。
