Realgar, an arsenic disulfide (As₂S₂) mineral. Enters the Liver and Large Intestine channels. Bitter, pungent, warm, and highly toxic. Primarily for external use to resolve toxicity and kill parasites. NEVER heat or calcine. A highly toxic mineral requiring extreme caution; modern use is largely restricted to specialist oncology applications.

内服0.05-0.1g入丸散；外用适量研末撒敷或调敷

有毒，含砷化合物。内服须严格控制用量，不可久服。孕妇禁用。不可与硝石、矾石同用（十八反中某些说法）。忌火煅（加热产生剧毒三氧化二砷）。
剧毒矿物药。雄黄主含二硫化二砷(As₂S₂)，加热或氧化可转化为剧毒的三氧化二砷（砒霜）。严禁火煅！内服极少量入丸散用，严禁入汤剂煎煮。急性中毒表现为恶心呕吐、腹痛腹泻、肝肾损害；慢性砷中毒可致皮肤色素沉着、周围神经病变、肝硬化及多器官癌变。孕妇绝对禁用。
味苦，平，寒。主寒热，鼠瘘，恶疮，疽痔，死肌，杀百虫毒。

Xiong huang contains arsenic disulfide; provides antiparasitic and antibacterial effects. Modern research identified arsenic compounds as effective in acute promyelocytic leukemia (Compound Realgar-Indigo Tablets), but toxicity is extreme.
《中国药典》严格规定砷含量限度、水飞法制备及禁止火煅。
Chinese Pharmacopoeia strictly specifies arsenic content limits, levigation preparation, and prohibition of calcination.
