The nacreous shell layer of Hyriopsis cumingii, Cristaria plicata (Unionidae), or Pteria martensii (Pteriidae). Enters the Liver and Heart channels. Salty, cold, and heavy, it pacifies the Liver, subdues yang, calms the spirit, and brightens the eyes. Commonly used for Liver-yang dizziness, insomnia, and eye diseases. Similar to mu li but with a stronger affinity for clearing the Liver and brightening the eyes.

煎服10–25g，宜先煎打碎。研末冲服每次1–3g。
