The dried whole plant of Viola yedoensis (Violaceae). Cold, bitter and pungent, entering the Heart and Liver channels. Clears heat, resolves toxicity, and disperses abscesses, especially boils and deep-rooted sores. Commonly combined with Pu Gong Ying and Jin Yin Hua in Wu Wei Xiao Du Yin (Five-Ingredient Toxin-Dispersing Decoction).
