The dried stipule fiber (leaf-sheath fiber) of Trachycarpus fortunei (Arecaceae), the raw source material for the more commonly used charred preparation Zong Lv Tan. Enters the Lung, Liver, and Large Intestine channels. Bitter, astringent, and neutral, Zong Lv Pi constrains and stanches bleeding, with its astringent action intensified when charred. It is used for hematemesis, epistaxis, flooding and spotting, and bloody stool from cold or deficiency patterns.
