Qì Fēn Zhèng

Qi-level Pattern

Treatment Principle

清热泻火，生津止渴

Clear heat and drain fire, generate fluids and stop thirst

Cardinal Symptoms · 主症

vigorous fever without aversion to cold but with aversion to heat
profuse sweating and thirst
red face and vexation
short dark urination

Secondary Symptoms · 次症

coarse rapid breathing
constipation

Etiology · 病因

Warm pathogen is not resolved and advances from the defensive level to the qi level, or enters the qi level directly, with exuberant interior heat.

Pathomechanism · 病机

Pathogenic heat is transmitted into the qi level; interior heat is effulgent, forcing fluids outward, and qi dynamics are obstructed.
