Phlegm Clouding the Heart Orifices Pattern

Treatment Principle

豁痰开窍，醒神

Sweep out phlegm and open the orifices; arouse the spirit

Cardinal Symptoms · 主症

clouded consciousness
dark dusky complexion
gurgling phlegm sounds in the throat
sudden collapse with loss of consciousness

Secondary Symptoms · 次症

slurred speech
abnormal behavior
chest oppression with nausea

Etiology · 病因

Emotional frustration generating qi stagnation that breeds phlegm, or dampness-turbidity fermenting phlegm that clouds the Heart orifices.

Pathomechanism · 病机

Phlegm-turbidity clouds the Heart orifices, depriving the spirit-brightness of its governance.
