Tán Rè Yōng Fèi Zhèng

Phlegm-Heat Congesting the Lung Pattern

Treatment Principle

清热化痰，宣肺平喘

Clear heat and transform phlegm; diffuse the Lung and calm dyspnea

Cardinal Symptoms · 主症

cough with dyspnea
copious yellow thick sputum
chest oppression and chest pain
fever with flushed face

Secondary Symptoms · 次症

thirst with desire to drink
constipation
scant dark urine

Etiology · 病因

External pathogen transforming into heat internally, refining fluids into phlegm; or internal heat congestion with mutual binding of phlegm and heat.

Pathomechanism · 病机

Phlegm and heat bind together, congesting and obstructing the Lung, which fails to clear and descend.
