Wèi Yīn Xū Zhèng

Stomach Yin Vacuity Pattern

Treatment Principle

滋养胃阴，兼清虚热

Enrich Stomach yin and clear vacuity heat

Cardinal Symptoms · 主症

epigastric discomfort with faint burning pain
hunger with no desire to eat
dry mouth and throat
dry bound stools
dry retching and hiccup

Secondary Symptoms · 次症

epigastric glomus and discomfort
heat in the five centers (palms, soles, and chest)
scanty urination

Etiology · 病因

Late-stage warm-heat disease scorching Stomach yin; excessive vomiting and diarrhea damaging fluids; excessive pungent, dry, fragrant foods; or emotional frustration with depressive fire damaging yin.

Pathomechanism · 病机

Stomach yin is vacuous and depleted; the Stomach lacks moistening, vacuity heat is engendered internally, and the Stomach loses its downbearing function.
