患者,男,四十二岁。因怒郁失眠两年,胸中憋闷如堵,隐隐作痛,入夜更甚,头痛如针刺,部位固定,心悸烦躁,夜间盗汗梦多。口唇青紫,舌质紫暗有瘀斑,脉涩。
A forty-two-year-old male with two years of insomnia since a fit of anger. He describes stifling oppression in the chest as if blocked, with a dull ache worse at night, stabbing fixed-location headaches, palpitations with irritability, and restless dreams with night sweats. Lips are cyanotic; tongue dark-purple with stasis spots; pulse choppy.
气机不畅,瘀血内停,胸中血府瘀阻之证。
Qi movement is impeded and static blood lodges within, obstructing the chest 'mansion of blood'.
服七剂,胸中憋闷减半,夜能安寐;十四剂后头痛消失,舌上瘀斑渐退;续服一月而愈。
After seven doses the chest oppression was halved and he could sleep through the night; after fourteen doses the headaches vanished and tongue stasis spots faded; a further month's dosing completed the cure.
王清任谓'治病之要诀,在明白气血',凡病日久不愈,多属瘀血。血府逐瘀汤行气活血而不伤正,柴胡、枳壳、桔梗升降气机,是为特色。
Wang Qingren said: 'The key to treating disease lies in understanding qi and blood' — and chronic illness is most often blood stasis. Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang moves qi and invigorates blood without harming the upright; its hallmark is the qi-mechanism ascent-descent created by Chai Hu, Zhi Ke, and Jie Geng.
