防风主含色原酮类（升麻素苷、5-O-甲基维斯阿米醇苷）与挥发油，药理示其解热、镇痛、抗炎、抗过敏与免疫调节作用。
Fangfeng contains chromone glycosides (prim-O-glucosylcimifugin, 5-O-methylvisammioside) and essential oil; pharmacology shows antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and immunomodulatory effects.
《中国药典》以升麻素苷与 5-O-甲基维斯阿米醇苷之和作为含量测定指标。
Chinese Pharmacopoeia uses the sum of prim-O-glucosylcimifugin and 5-O-methylvisammioside as assay marker.
与黄芪、白术配伍成玉屏风散，为经典扶正固表方。
