鸦胆子富含鸦胆子苦素类苦木素（quassinoids），具抗疟、抗阿米巴、抗肿瘤作用；内服有毒，临床多用其油制剂。
Ya Dan Zi contains bruceolide-type quassinoids with antimalarial, antiamoebic, and antineoplastic activity; the raw seed is toxic so oil emulsions are preferred clinically.
鸦胆子苦寒有小毒，清热解毒，止痢截疟，外治鸡眼赘疣。
Bitter-cold with toxicity; clears heat, resolves toxin, arrests dysentery and malaria; topically used for corns and warts.
鸦胆子含高毒性苦木素，过量致恶心呕吐、肝肾损害、溶血；须严格控制剂量。
Ya Dan Zi contains highly toxic quassinoids; overdose causes vomiting, hepatorenal damage, and hemolysis; dosage must be strictly controlled.
