The drumskin pulse feels like pressing the head of a drum—scallion-stalk and wiry combined—signifying cold deficiency.
Floating and striking the finger, hollow within and hard without—like pressing a drumhead. It combines the qualities of the scallion-stalk and wiry pulses.
Indicates blood loss, seminal emission, miscarriage, and uterine spotting. When essence and blood are greatly injured, qi has nowhere to adhere and floats outward—hence a pulse firm on the outside and hollow within.
