The wiry pulse stretches long, straight at head and tail; when liver-wood is overbearing, earth is injured in response.
Straight and long from head to tail, like pressing the string of a zither. The pulse stands taut beneath the finger, as if touching a drawn bowstring.
Indicates disorders of the liver and gallbladder, pain, phlegm-rheum, and malarial disorders. The wiry pulse is the liver's pulse, commonly seen in spring; in the elderly it often reflects arterial stiffening.
