近代张锡纯毕生临证、讲学与中西医参证之心得，是近代中医最具代表性的综合著作之一。全书以中医为本，参酌西说，创立大量临证验方（如升陷汤、镇肝熄风汤、参赭镇气汤等），为近代中西医汇通派的奠基之作。

近代张锡纯撰，分七期陆续刊行，成书年代约在民国七年（1918）至二十三年（1934）之间。全书包括医论、药物、方剂、医案、医话诸部分，见解独到、验方实用，为近代中医文献之重镇。
