The dried root of Pueraria lobata (Fabaceae). Enters the Spleen, Stomach, and Lung channels. Sweet, pungent, and cool, its ascending and dispersing action is relatively gentle. It releases the muscle layer and reduces fever, generates fluids to relieve thirst, raises clear yang, vents rashes, and stops diarrhea. It is the chief medicinal in Ge Gen Tang and Ge Gen Qin Lian Tang.
