滑石为天然含水硅酸镁矿物，内服经肠道吸附水分与毒物、外用形成保护膜，药理示其清热利湿、吸附保护与抗菌辅助作用。
Huashi is natural hydrated magnesium silicate (talc); orally it adsorbs fluid and toxins in the gut, topically it forms a protective film. Actions include clearing heat-damp, adsorbent protection and antibacterial support.
《中国药典》规定滑石不得检出石棉纤维，入煎剂须包煎。
Chinese Pharmacopoeia requires talc to be free of asbestos fibers; decoct in a cloth bag.
六一散（滑石:甘草=6:1）为清暑利湿经典方。
Liu Yi San (talc:gancao = 6:1) is the classical summer-heat damp-resolving formula.
外用含石棉的滑石存在致癌风险；药用滑石须严格检测纤维杂质。

脉洪滑，面赤身热头晕，不恶寒但恶热，舌上黄滑苔，渴欲凉饮，饮不解渴，得水则呕，按之胸下痛，小便短，大便闭者，阳明暑温，水结在胸也，小陷胸汤加枳实主之；热入营中者，加银花滑石之属。
