The dried rhizome of Belamcanda chinensis (Iridaceae). Enters the Lung channel. Bitter and cold, it is the key herb for treating sore, swollen throat with phlegm obstruction and qi counterflow. Zhang Zhongjing's She Gan Ma Huang Tang combines it with ma huang and xi xin for cold-rheum lurking in the Lung with wheezing and a sound like water gurgling in the throat.
清热解毒、消痰利咽力强，治咽喉肿痛、痰盛咳喘
内服煎汤3–10g；入丸散用量酌减。外用适量，煎水洗或研末吹喉。
