The dried nearly ripe fruit of Prunus mume (Rosaceae). Enters the Liver, Spleen, Lung, and Large Intestine channels. Sour, astringent, and neutral, it astringes the Lung to stop cough, binds the intestines to stop diarrhea, calms roundworms, and generates fluids. It is the key herb for roundworm reversal (hui jue), and Zhang Zhongjing's Wu Mei Wan uses it as chief for this condition.

煎服6–12g,大剂量可用至30g。止血宜炒炭用。安蛔常用乌梅丸方。
