The first of the 'Three Cool-Opening Treasures' in the warm-disease school (the other two being Zi Xue Dan and Zhi Bao Dan), from Wu Jutong's Wen Bing Tiao Bian. It treats warm-heat pathogen invading the Pericardium and phlegm-heat clouding the clear orifices with high fever, spirit clouding, delirious speech, and wind-stroke orifice blockage. Note: This data entry includes only five substitute herbs (huang lian, huang qin, zhi zi, yu jin, bing pian); clinical use requires the officially approved manufactured product.
