大柴胡汤

Dà Chái Hú Tāng

Major Bupleurum Decoction

From the Shang Han Lun, the representative formula for combined Shaoyang-Yangming disease. It modifies Xiao Chai Hu Tang by removing the supplementing Ren Shen and Gan Cao and adding the purging Da Huang and Zhi Shi — harmonizing the Shaoyang while internally purging heat accumulation, shifting the strategy from balanced attack-supplement to primarily attacking.
