Wēn Pí Tāng

Warm the Spleen Decoction

From the Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand in Gold for Emergencies, this is the representative formula for the warm-purgation method. Da Huang and Fu Zi are used together — cold and hot jointly deployed, attacking and supplementing combined — so that purgation does not damage the upright and warming does not fuel heat.
