Tongue red, with longitudinal and transverse fissures of varying depth on the surface, as if cut by a knife; coating scanty or absent.
主阴液亏耗，津不上承；常见于热病伤阴或久病阴虚之证。
Indicates depletion of yin fluids failing to ascend and moisten the tongue; commonly seen after febrile disease has damaged yin or in chronic yin deficiency.
