The Shang Han Lun representative formula for warming the middle and dispelling cold. Composed of ren shen, bai zhu, gan jiang, and zhi gan cao, it treats Spleen-Stomach vacuity cold with epigastric pain relieved by warmth and pressure, spontaneous diarrhea without thirst, vomiting, poor appetite, cold limbs, a pale tongue with white coating, and a deep, fine or slow pulse. Adding fu zi creates Fu Zi Li Zhong Tang.
