Treats damp-heat dysentery with abdominal pain and bloody-purulent stool. A large dose of Bai Shao harmonizes the nutritive and stops pain as sovereign, combined with Huang Lian and Huang Qin to clear heat and dry dampness. Da Huang purges to guide out stagnation, Mu Xiang and Bing Lang move qi, and a trace of Rou Gui warms the vessels to prevent cold congelation — embodying the principle 'regulate qi and tenesmus resolves; move blood and purulent stool heals.'
