血府逐瘀汤

Xuè Fǔ Zhú Yū Tāng

Drive Out Stasis from the Mansion of Blood Decoction

Wang Qingren's celebrated formula from Yi Lin Gai Cuo for blood stasis in the chest (xue fu). It combines Tao Hong Si Wu Tang (substituting sheng di for shu di, chi shao for bai shao) with Si Ni San (minus shao yao) plus jie geng and niu xi. It treats fixed, stabbing chest pain, chronic headache, vexation, insomnia, and a choppy or wiry tight pulse with a dark-red tongue or stasis macules.
