Asthma presents with recurrent episodes of wheezing, dyspnea, chest tightness, and cough. Latent phlegm lodged in the Lung is the root predisposition, while external pathogens, diet, and emotions are triggering factors.
Key differentiation: During attacks, cold asthma has thin white sputum with chills; heat asthma has thick yellow sputum with thirst. During remission, Lung, Spleen, and Kidney vacuity predominate, requiring tonification of the root.
